EASTMONT ATHLETICS REOPENING SEASONS

Hello Wildcats! Here is some great news that we all have been waiting for. We will be restarting our Athletics for 2021. 2020/21 Season changes The Columbia Basin Big 9 Athletic Conference met this week to discuss the latest WIAA proposed calendar in response to Governor Inslee’s Tuesday announcement for a Roadmap to Recovery. The WIAA Executive Board voted to revise the sport season schedule on Wednesday evening. School sponsored Education Based Athletic contests will be allowed to start when a DOH recognized Region is in Phase 2, which will be evaluated weekly. Eastmont, Moses Lake, and Wenatchee are in the North Central Region (Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan and Grant Counties). Eisenhower, Davis, Sunnyside, and West Valley are in the Southwest Region (Kittitas, Yakima, Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla and Columbia Counties). The Roadmap stipulates that each of the Region’s metrics will be evaluated weekly, which will dictate whether teams within that Region can play or not, and what the following week’s practice limitations may be as well. The Conference has elected to seek Regional opportunities to schedule interscholastic athletic competitions, across classifications, in an attempt to maximize opportunities for their student-athletes. Stay tuned as we work to set schedules and create athletic opportunities for our athletes. Here is important information about when sports will be offered and their guidelines.
